To Kill a Mockingbird

A book by Harper Lee

I could hardly put this book down. It covers many important themes that are relevant to this day. Scout's point of view of all the events unfolding before her was refreshing. In my journey to explore American literature this has been so far one of my favorite. It can be humorous at times but it quickly brings you back to reality, it depicts a realistic world of unfairness which seldom leads to happy endings.

I'm not going to pretend like I can provide a deep and wide analysis of what this book means culturally. It is a flawed book but so is life as depicted throughout the novel. Atticus is very likeable and his valiant effort to lead by example for his kids is admirable, he is no savior by any means but he tries to be and do better every chance he gets. As a somewhat new father that's how I want to lead my life for my kid, setting a good example by doing not just by talking about it.
