Throne of Glass
A book by Sarah J. Maas
This was a recommendation from my dear wife. We have been trying to read similar books or series so we can discuss them together. I was a bit skeptical since the last recommendation was a bust, but this was enjoyable. It was natural to compare this to Sanderson's. His world-building stays unmatched but she covers romance between characters in a more mature way than Sanderson does. It's not excessive, where it feels like the romance is the main attraction, and it fits naturally (to some extent) into the storyline, which I appreciated. I didn't feel comfortable giving this more than a 3 because, while entertaining, it doesn't give you enough to wanting to learn more about this world. I also want to reward the fact that this book was written in the span of 10 years. While I don't usually take that into account I recently feel compelled to reward anything that requires such dedication.
