Frankenstein

A book by Mary Shelley

This might deserve a bit more than a 4 but not quite a 5 star rating. Dr. Frankenstein might be one of the most frustrating characters I read. I just wanted to jump in the book and shook him real good. That said, Mary Shelley was about 18 when she wrote this book which I believe this is an important perspective to have. She covers so many important themes in less than 300 pages. There's so much to unpack I don't even know where to begin. I'll say this, there are a lot of parallels we can draw between that era and the one we live in now. The ethical boundaries of science and technology are still an important topic. I mentioned this in one of my thoughts where I express concerns on how technologists are so focused on pushing the limits of innovation that they forget how to keep some guardrails, what are the consequences, and how their progress or discovery can impact society for the worse.
