Empire of Storms

I'm torn about this book. Leaving aside the romance, I found there are too many repeated dynamics between characters. Almost everyone is paired up. While I'm happy for them, it all works out (this far) too well. Life is messier than that, so I was expecting relationships to be developing in a more complex way. This doesn't take away from the overall story but I found it to be too predictable.

Thankfully, the story evolves pretty well with some twists and turns that will keep you glued to the book. If you like the genre, this has a good balance of romance in it. Not too much and most of it fits in the narrative. Excited to see where the story goes from here!
