Clear Thinking
A book by Shane Parrish
I'm a big fan of Shane's work and this book proves to be consistent with his general message. He collected information from a lot of other sources and organized it in a digestible way.
I enjoyed the framework he was able to build for clear thinking. He covers the problem of our default behaviors and how to build safeguard to give yourself a chance to make better decisions. I found at times he touched on tangential topics rather than staying focused on the main subject of the book. I was still able to extrapolate good information from it but they felt like side quests.
To get the best out of this book you need to try some of the methodologies proposed and use the safeguards. Merely reading through it is going to give you an idea about what's wrong with your current process but without action, it's all for nothing.
The strongest message for me was towards the end. Although not a new idea, reflecting on our own mortality should help us understand what truly matters.
