Catch-22

A book by Joseph Heller

I knew nothing about this book but only found out it was about war. As a classic of American Literature I didn't want to miss out. I was caught off guard by the ridiculous situation Yossarian finds himself in. For the first time in a while I laughed out loud reading a book. I felt psychologically safe because the writing was absurd, each character with different quirks that all combined crated a great harmony of comedy. But then, despite all my laughs at Yossarian's expenses, reality kicks in (no spoilers...?) and I didn't expect it to hit me as roughly as it did. It was by far the most surprising read this year. Solid 4 stars, everyone should give this book a try!
